Remington Barrel Date Codes

Quite often someone will come across a Remington rifle or shotgun of unknown vintage. A quick method of determining the age is by reading the barrel date code. This is fairly reliable on rifles with the original factory barrel. It is less so on shotguns since the barrels can be swapped in a couple of minutes.
